The USA won its second gold since 2010 and Canada finished out of the medals at the 2013 World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.

The Americans took on Sweden in the gold medal game and triumphed by a 3-1 score. After Filip Sandberg opened the scoring for Sweden in the second period, Rocco Grimaldi buired two in less than three minutes and Vince Trochek added a third period empty-netter to seal the deal for the USA.

In the bronze medal game, Canada fell behind the Russians 2-0 in the first, but finished the period down 3-2, getting goals from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jonathan Huberdeau. The teams were tied 4-4 after the second and 5-5 after regulation, forcing the match to overtime.
