VIDEO: 30 teams in 30 days - Pittsburgh Penguins

Zoom Image

The Pittsburgh Penguins have established themselves as perennial favorites for the Stanley Cup, but the way they exited the 2012 post-season was worrisome. No matter how high-tempo the offense was, the Penguins allowed a ton of goals as Marc-Andre Fleury completely melted down. GM Ray Shero added Tomas Vokoun as a backup and safety net this season.

The health of Sidney Crosby is always headline news around this team, though Evgeni Malkin seems to step up every time 'The Kid' goes down. The loss of Jordan Staal will be felt most with Crosby out, but Brandon Sutter is a terrific third-liner pivot.

On today's conclusion of 30 teams in 30 days, we look at the Pittsburgh Penguins and explain why THN pegged them to finish first in the East.
