No team took the NHL by storm in 2011-12 quite like the St. Louis Blues. The team enjoyed a 22-point improvement and got back to the playoffs for the first time since 2009. It was also their first division title since 2000.
Much of the credit goes to coach Ken Hitchcock, who took over the young team and made it one of the best defensive clubs. As a result, Brian Elliott and Jaroslav Halak experienced career years. The success was a real team effort, as David Backes led the way with only 24 goals and 54 points.
Will we see a fall back to the pack from St. Louis this season, or will they continue on as an elite NHL club? Today's Puck Panel continues our look at 30 teams in 30 days by analyzing the Blues, who THN picked to finish atop the West this season.
