After new owner Terry Pegula entered the scene, Buffalo invested a lot of money towards a few free agents in an attempt for a sudden push for the post-season. The plan didn't work out as expected, with the Sabres showing holes throughout the year and unable to make a late-season takeover of eighth place.
The team put forth efforts to bulk up this past off-season, led by the trade of Derek Roy for Steve Ott. With goalie Ryan Miller, the Sabres always feel confident of being a playoff team, but if the peices don't fit together, the Sabres could find themselves in the same position as 2011-12.
Today's Puck Panel looks at both sides of the Sabres and explains why THN predicted the team will return to the post-season in 2012-13 and finish seventh in the East.
