HELSINKI - Erik Karlsson will play in Finland during the NHL lockout.
The 22-year-old defenceman has signed a month-to-month contract with Jokerit and is expected to make his debut with the team on Saturday.
Karlsson is coming off a breakout season with the Ottawa Senators that saw him win the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenceman.
He led all blue-liners with 78 points in 81 games.
Over the summer, Karlsson signed a US$45.5-million, seven-year contract extension with the Senators.
