Winnipeg Jets sign forward Spencer Machacek to a new contract

WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Jets have signed forward Spencer Machacek to a new contract.

Machacek, 23, played in 13 games with the Jets last season, recording two goals and seven assists.

The Lethbridge, Alta., native also had 18 goals and 32 assists in 61 games with the American Hockey League's St. John's IceCaps.

Machacek was originally drafted by Atlanta in the third round, 67th overall, of the 2007 NHL draft. He played 12 games with the Thrashers before the team moved to Winnipeg.
