Colorado Avalanche sign 1-year contract extension with goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere

DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche have signed goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere (zhee-GEHR') to a one-year contract extension.

The deal announced by the Avalanche on Monday will keep Giguere with the team through the 2013-14 season.

The 35-year-old Montreal native appeared in 32 games last season, his first with the Avalanche. He had the lowest goals-against average, 2.27, of any Colorado goaltender since David Aebischer in the 2003-4 season.
