Blues sign Langenbrunner to 1-year deal, trade Crombeen to Tampa Bay

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Blues kept one forward in the fold Tuesday while sending another packing for Florida.

The Blues agreed to a one-year contract with 36-year-old right-wing Jamie Langenbrunner. They then dealt forward B.J. Crombeen and their fifth round pick in the 2014 NHL draft to Tampa Bay in exchange for the Lightning's fourth round pick in both 2013 and 2014.

The veteran of 1,105 NHL games had six goals and 18 assists in 70 games for the Blues last season.

"We are excited that Jamie has agreed to stay in St. Louis," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said in a statement. "His professionalism and leadership both on and off the ice are invaluable assets for our club."

The six-foot-one, 202-pound native of Cloquet, Minn., has played 17 NHL seasons with Dallas, New Jersey and St. Louis, amassing 662 points (243 goals, 419 assists) along with 837 penalty minutes. He helped Dallas to a Stanley Cup in 1999 and New Jersey to the NHL title in 2003.

Crombeen, 27, had a goal and two assists in 40 games with the Blues last season. The six-foot-two, 210-pound forward has spent the past four seasons in St. Louis recording 49 points (26 goals, 23 assists) and 515 penalty minutes in 265 games.

Overall, the Denver native has appeared in 288 NHL games across five seasons between Dallas and St. Louis, totalling 56 points (27 goals, 29 assists) and 580 penalty minutes.
