Norfolk Admirals beat Toronto Marlies 6-1, sweep Calder Cup final

The Norfolk Admirals defeated the Toronto Marlies 6-1 Saturday to win the American League's Calder Cup championship. The Admirals swept the best-of-seven series.

Tyler Johnson and Mike Kostka scored two goals each for the Admirals and goalie Dustin Tokarski turned aside 18 shots. For the Marlies, Ben Scrivens made 27 saves and Mike Zigomanis scored the lone goals.

The win caps off an incredible season for the Tampa Bay affiliate, a team that racked up a professional hockey record 28-game winning streak from February to April. Since a loss on Super Bowl Sunday, Norfolk went 43-3. The Admirals defeated the Manchester Monarchs 3-1 in the first round, the Connecticut Whale 4-2 in the second round and swept the St. John's Ice Caps and Marlies.

Alexandre Picard, who scored nine goals and seven assists in the run, was named the MVP of the final.
