Host Shawinigan beats London 2-1 in overtime to claim Memorial Cup

Anton Zlobin had both goals for the Quebec League's Shawinigan Cataractes in a 2-1 overtime victory over the Ontario League's London Knights to claim the first Memorial Cup in franchise history.

The Knights, who dominated the first period, opened the scoring with a Ryan Rupert marker at 5:42. Zlobin tied the score at 3:01 of the second period.

Though the game was wide open with several scoring chances for each team after the Zlobin goal, neither squad could find a second tally in regulation.

In overtime, with a little more than two minutes remaining, Zlobin scored on a one-timer from the slot to give Shawinigan the win.
