Blue Jackets sign 2 players, including emergency goalie to back up York vs. Red Wings

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Blue Jackets signed centre Boone Jenner and goaltender Shawn Hunwick on Wednesday.

Jenner received a three-year, entry-level contract, and Hunwick agreed to an amateur tryout contract and will serve as the backup to Allen York for Wednesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings.

Goaltender Steve Mason suffered an upper body injury during the morning skate and is listed as day to day, forcing the Hunwick transaction.

Jenner, 18, is playing his third season with the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League. He has 22 goals and 49 points in 43 games. Hunwick, 22, just completed his senior season at the University of Michigan, where he posted a 24-12-3 record with a 2.00 goals-against average.
