Columbus claims centre Boyce from Toronto, sends defenceman Savard to Springfield in AHL

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have claimed centre Darryl Boyce off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The 27-year-old Canadian has one goal and one assist in 17 games with the Maple Leafs this season. He's also played 22 games for the Toronto Marlies in the American Hockey League.

Boyce has six goals and nine assists in 64 career NHL games.

Earlier Saturday, the Blue Jackets assigned defenceman David Savard to their AHL affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

The 21-year-old Savard has two goals and seven assists with 16 penalty minutes in 26 games with the Blue Jackets this season. He also has three goals and 11 assists with 38 penalty minutes in 28 games with Springfield.
