Obama to honour Boston Bruins for work on and off the ice

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Barack Obama will welcome the NHL's Boston Bruins to the White House this afternoon.

The six-time Stanley Cup champions will be recognized for their 2011 championship and for their work off the ice.

The White House says the Boston Bruins Foundation has donated more than $7 million to various charities in six New England states.

The Bruins won their first Stanley Cup in 39 years last June over the Vancouver Canucks by taking the last two games of the seven-game series.
