BUFFALO, N.Y. - Buffalo Sabres forward Ville Leino is out indefinitely after sustaining what the team is calling a lower body injury.
Coach Lindy Ruff says Leino will be out "for weeks" after the player was absent from practice on Wednesday, a day after being hurt in a 3-2 overtime loss to Ottawa.
It's the latest blow to an injury-riddled team that hasn't had a healthy lineup all season. The Sabres were missing six regulars against the Senators.
The injuries have contributed in Buffalo going 3-5-3 in its past 11.
Leino's production has picked up after he got off to a slow start in his first season with Buffalo. He has a goal and four assists in his past seven outings, to give him three goals and 10 points in 29 games.
