The Hockey News player of the week for the period of Dec. 5-11 is Calgary Flames right winger Jarome Iginla.
In three games on the week, the Flames captain began climbing back from a slow start to the year. Iginla led off with a two-goal, three-point effort against the lowly Carolina Hurricanes and followed it up with an assist two nights later in a win against Colorado.
On Saturday night against the rival Edmonton Oilers, Iginla posted his second two-goal performance in five nights as the Flames capped off a perfect 3-0 week.
At 14-13-2, Calgary sits two points behind San Jose for eighth in the West, but have played two more games than the Sharks. Iginla, meanwhile, has been surging and his tied with Olli Jokinen for the team lead in points with 21 in 29 games.
