Bolts' Downie fined $2,500 for leaving bench to get involved in altercation

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Tampa Bay Lightning forward Steve Downie was fined $2,500 by the NHL on Tuesday for leaving the bench to get involved in an altercation.

The incident happened in the second period in New York on Thursday, Dec. 8, and saw Downie assessed a minor penalty for roughing and a misconduct penalty.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
