CALGARY - The Calgary Flames assigned veteran forward Niklas Hagman to the AHL's Abbotsford Heat on Friday.

Hagman has struggled this season with a goal and three assists in eight games with Calgary. He had 11 goals and 16 assists in 71 contests with the Flames last season.

The 31-year-old left-winger had his best season in 2009-10 when he registered 25 goals and 19 assists with both Calgary and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Hagman played for Finland at the 2006 and 2010 Olympics.
