Carter has foot injury, Columbus Blue Jackets exchange forwards, call up goalie

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Jeff Carter, the Columbus Blue Jackets' major off-season acquisition, has a hairline crack on the top of his right foot and may be held out of Tuesday's home game against Dallas.

The club listed him as day to day.

In addition, general manager Scott Howson announced on Monday that forward Matt Calvert has been assigned to the Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass. To replace him, Columbus recalled forward Cody Bass from the Falcons.

Also, backup goaltender Curtis Sanford was hurt in practice and the Blue Jackets recalled Mathieu Corbeil as insurance for the Dallas game. Corbeil will be returned to Saint John the next day, Howson said on his Twitter account.
