RALEIGH, N.C. - Another teenaged first-round draft pick has made the Carolina Hurricanes' opening-night roster.

The team announced its 23-man roster Wednesday and it included defenceman Ryan Murphy. The 18-year-old was drafted by Carolina in June with the 12th pick of the draft.

Last year's first-round pick, Jeff Skinner, made the team and went on to win the league's rookie of the year award. Skinner and Murphy were teammates on their junior team in Kitchener.

Another teen—19-year-old defenceman Justin Faulk, Carolina's second-round pick in 2010—also is on the roster.

The Hurricanes trimmed the roster to 23 by assigning forward Riley Nash to their AHL affiliate in Charlotte.

Carolina opens Friday night at home against Tampa Bay.
