CALGARY - The Calgary Flames acquired forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond from the New Jersey Devils for a 2012 fifth-round draft pick Thursday.
Letourneau-Leblond, 26, had 13 points and 334 penalty minutes with New Jersey's AHL affiliate in Albany, N.Y., last season. The six-foot-two, 220-pound native of Levis, Que., has appeared in 37 career NHL games since being selected in the seventh round of the '04 NHL entry draft by New Jersey.
“Pierre-Luc is a hard-hitting, physical player who tends to get under the skin of the opposition,”Flames GM Jay Feaster said in a statement. "The way he plays the game causes other players to be aware of his presence and he is willing to defend himself and stand up for his teammates as well.
"We want to continue to add to our team toughness but do so with players who are capable of playing a regular shift and contributing within the team concept.''
