Salavat Yulaev beats Atlant 3-1 to take 2-0 lead in KHL Gagarin Cup final

Salavat Yulaev defeated Atlant Mytishchi 3-1 Sunday in the second game of the Kontinental League Gagarin Cup final in Ufa, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Down 1-0 in the second period, Salavat Yulaev capitalized on Atlant penalties during the frame to score three power play goals to take control of the game. Igor Grigorenko netted the first two within a three minute span (27th minute, 30th minute), while Sergei Zinoviev tallied the third score in the 38th minute.

Jan Marek had given Atlant the early lead, with a goal in the ninth minute, which would turn out to be visitors’ only offense of the afternoon.

The third game of the series will be Tuesday in Mytishchi. It will be broadcast in the United States live at 11:30 AM ET on ESPN3.com.
