Metallurg forces Game 7 with 5-3 win over Salavat Yulaev in KHL East final

Metallurg defeated Salavat Yulaev Ufa 5-3 in Magnitogorsk Sunday to tie the best-of-seven Kontinental League Gagarin Cup Eastern Conference final at 3-3 and set up a seventh game in Ufa on Tuesday. 

Gleb Klimenko (two goals) and Sergei Fedorov (goal, assist) set the pace for Metallurg, while Igor Grigorenko (two goals) led Salavat Yulaev.

“Now, there is one match," said Klimenko after the game. "It is 0-0. They understand it.  We understand it.  Maybe, psychologically, we have a slight advantage.”

The winner of the Salavat Yulaev-Metallurg series will face Western Conference champions Atlant Mytishchi in the Gagarin Cup final.  Atlant wrapped up the their series Saturday, defeating Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in six games.
