At 6-foot-4 and 206 pounds there is no doubt Gudbranson was physically ready to make the jump to the NHL this season and his play for the Florida Panthers during the pre-season did little to dissuade that belief. But due to contract problems the 19-year-old defenseman found himself back in the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs.

And while many young men would have been discouraged by the set back, Gudbranson embraced the opportunity to become a leader in Kingston and play with his younger brother Alex.

Ryan Kennedy takes a closer look at Erik Gudbranson’s swan song in the OHL.

- Los Angeles' Colin Fraser. The Kings have lost two in a row and are now tied 2-2 in their series against the San Jose Sharks.
