When the Toronto Maple Leafs traded defenseman Francois Beauchemin to the Anaheim Ducks for winger Joffrey Lupul, prospect Jake Gardiner and a conditional fourth round draft pick in 2013 it created an opportunity for a young Leaf defender to step up and make an impact - enter Keith Aulie.
Since getting his second crack at the NHL in early February, the 21-year-old Saskatchewan native has demonstrated he belongs and has earned the trust of coach Ron Wilson. Aulie is averaging more than 20 minutes per game and is being used in all situations.
