Source: Stephen Weiss hasn't waived no-trade clause for move to Toronto

There is no truth to the report that Stephen Weiss of the Florida Panthers has waived his no-trade clause only if it expedites a trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs, according to sources close to Weiss.

It was reported earlier today that Weiss, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, had agreed to waive it if it would result in a deal to the Maple Leafs. Weiss has been rumored as a possible target for trade before Monday’s 3 p.m. deadline, but multiple sources close to Weiss insisted he has neither been approached by Panthers GM Dale Tallon about waiving his clause, nor has he indicated to Panthers management he would waive it to go to any team in particular.

“Players just don’t do that sort of thing,” the source said.
