Injury-riddled Canadiens recall centre Engqvist from AHL Hamilton

MONTREAL - The injury-plagued Montreal Canadiens recalled centre Andreas Engqvist from Hamilton of the AHL on Wednesday.

The six-foot-four, 197-pound Engqvist has six goals and eight assists in 38 AHL games this season.

The callup came after two and possibly three forwards suffered what the team has only called ''upper body injuries'' in a 2-1 overtime loss in Buffalo on Tuesday night.

The all-sports network RDS reported Michael Cammalleri will be out for at least four weeks with a dislocated shoulder from a fall into the boards and Max Pacioretty will miss two-to-four weeks with fractured ribs from being hit by a shot from teammate James Wisniewski.

Centre Jeff Halpern was also shaken up in the game but there was no word on whether he was injured.

The Canadiens expect to have forward Benoit Pouliot for their game Friday night in Ottawa after he missed two games with flu-like symptoms. Montreal also plays Saturday at home against Anaheim.

Montreal had already lost defencemen Andrei Markov and Josh Gorges for the season with torn knee ligaments.
