Panthers say Bryan McCabe will miss 4 to 6 weeks with broken jaw

SUNRISE, Fla. - Florida defenceman Bryan McCabe is expected to miss four to six weeks while recovering from a broken jaw.

McCabe had surgery on Sunday, one day after getting struck by a puck in the Panthers' victory against New Jersey. McCabe stayed in that game, missing only one of his scheduled shifts the rest of the way.

The Panthers hosted Atlanta on Monday, starting seven points out of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference.

McCabe has five goals and 16 assists for Florida this season.
