Player of the Week - Jan. 17

The Hockey News player of the week for the period of Jan. 10-16, 2011 is Boston Bruins center Patrice Bergeron.

With four games on the week, Bergeron notched four goals and seven points to help the Bruins to three wins and the lone spot atop the Northeast Division.

Bergeron started off with two assists and a plus-2 rating in Monday’s 4-2 win over the Sidney Crosby-less Pittsburgh Penguins. One night later, Bergeron put up his first hat trick of the season in only 12:41 of ice time as the Bruins pounded the hapless Ottawa Senators, 6-0. In Thursday’s 7-5 win over the Flyers, Bergeron played 19:16 and posted one goal and one assist to go along with a plus-1 rating.

The only game Bergeron was held pointless in was Saturday’s 3-2 loss to the Penguins, in which he logged 17:50 of ice time.

On the season, Bergeron has 14 goals and leads the Bruins with 34 points in 44 games. With a 24-13-7 record, Boston is third in the Eastern Conference with 55 points.

Who will win Game 4 of the Kings-Sharks series?

"We're playing the defending champs and you can tell they're not going to beat themselves. That team, just from them going all the way, you can see it over there. There's no panic…You can tell that's a machine over there and we've got to be at our best."

- San Jose's Scott Gomez on the Los Angeles Kings. Los Angeles leads the series 2-1.
