GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Ilari Filppula scored his second of the night with under three minutes to go in the third Wednsday as the Grand Rapids Griffins beat the Toronto Marlies 4-3 in the American Hockey League.
Filppula's winner came just under a minute after Jay Rosehill tied the game for Toronto.
Jamie Tardif and Joakim Andersson had the other goals for Grand Rapids (14-14-5), while Tomas Tatar picked up three assists.
Darryl Boyce and Justin Hodgman rounded out the scoring for the Marlies (16-13-4).
Joey MacDonald made 22 saves to pick up the win for the Griffins, while Ben Scrivens stopped 28 shots in defeat.
