Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman has avoided the sophomore jinx that plagues so many young players. The 6-foot-6 Swede is excelling under first-year coach Guy Boucher and demonstrating he can be an impact player at the NHL level.

The second overall pick in the 2009 draft has two goals and 13 points in 32 games, but more importantly he has shown consistency that was lacking in his rookie campaign. And his reliability has translated into increased ice time, which has helped the 20-year-old’s confidence level.

THN’s Ryan Dixon takes a closer look at Hedman’s success in his second season.
