As a long-time Red Wings fan, I was delighted when Detroit was chosen for the Winter Classic game against long standing rivals Chicago.
What annoys me now, though, is the league's over-selling of the Crosby-Ovechkin/Pens-Caps rivalry.
The Winter Classic has become a very marketable product for the NHL and understandably a great opportunity to showcase its best talents, but give one the other 21 teams yet to participate outdoors a chance to face Washington.
