Michaela Ann Charron, Hoosick Falls, N.Y.
I was shocked and saddened to read of the death of Craig Charron (Inside Hockey, Nov. 15).
Hockey players get requests for autographs, photos, etc., but how many generously answer shot-in-the-dark genealogy questions?
Twenty-two years ago, almost to the day, I wrote Craig when he was at the University of Lowell. As anyone who does "gen" research knows, some relatives are notoriously mute.
Since I knew my paternal side came from Massachusetts, I took a chance and wrote him to see if there might be some distant connection. I also had to ask him if he got plagued with the same question I did: "are you related to Guy Charron?" (no on both counts, it turns out).
Craig sent me the loveliest reply, giving me as much info as he had, but we couldn't connect any lines.
I will always remember how kind he was to take the time to reply - on both sides of the notepaper!
Thanks, Craig. Debt acknowledged.

“I think when you’re at home the first two games, sometimes you get a little bit too comfortable at home. Then you come on the road, maybe it’s like a rude awakening…We’ve had three series to figure that out, learn it. We definitely want to be better (Monday), especially in the first game on the road.”
