No points for losers

Brian Holland, Belle River, Ont.

I don't know why there's so much debate over the point system. Here's an idea for next year: you don't get any points for losing a game. Weird concept, I know.

How about two points for a win in regulation, one point for a win in overtime or shootout and no points for not winning the game.

This might give teams incentive to finish teams off rather than hold on for a shootout loss and say, "oh well".

Maybe teams would stop making the playoffs by losing 10 to 20 games, only because they're in extra time.

Who should the Vancouver Canucks hire as their new head coach?

"Last year we came in as maybe an underdog, quietly. Got off to the right start just because teams weren't really ready for us. But this time around that's not the case. They realize we are a good team and they're ready to go against us, right off the get-go."

- Los Angeles' Colin Fraser. The Kings have lost two in a row and are now tied 2-2 in their series against the San Jose Sharks.
