I seriously think NHL teams are making some big mistakes. Signing player to long-term deals can be very risky. For example, the New York Islanders thought they were gold when they signed Rick DiPietro to a 15-year, $67.5 million contract in 2006. Whoops.
Also, the Ilya Kovalchuk deal will blow up in New Jersey's face. Look where they are now…30th! I am very surprised in these hard times that teams would gamble money like that.
I hope that more teams do not make the same mistakes as the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils.

"We're playing the defending champs and you can tell they're not going to beat themselves. That team, just from them going all the way, you can see it over there. There's no panic…You can tell that's a machine over there and we've got to be at our best."
