This year’s installment of the Florida Panthers is a long way from the 1996 team that advanced to the Stanley Cup final. But one thing the two incarnations have in common is a reliable goaltender patrolling the crease. In 1996 it was John Vanbiesbrouck, today it is Czech native Tomas Vokoun.

Vokoun, who was acquired in a trade with Nashville on June 22, 2007, is trying to lead the Panthers back to the post-season for the first time since 2000. While the goalie market continues to become more unpredictable, Vokoun has had at least a .919 save percentage each year since the lockout and is again posting impressive totals.
