Bring back the Habs-Nordiques rivalry

Richard Meunier, Harrisville, R.I.

The recent The Hockey News poll (Oct. 11 issue) on "what city the NHL should go to next" was right on.

I believe fans would love to see two NHL franchises in Quebec (Montreal and wherever), maybe a resurrection of the Nordiques. It would definitely heat up an old rivalry, as all true hockey fans will remember "Le Guerre Civile du Quebec" or the Civil War of Quebec (for all you English speaking folks) during the 1980s.

Tons of penalty minutes and just plain old-time hockey. Just another road to revival for the post-strike NHL.

Who should the Vancouver Canucks hire as their new head coach?

"Last year we came in as maybe an underdog, quietly. Got off to the right start just because teams weren't really ready for us. But this time around that's not the case. They realize we are a good team and they're ready to go against us, right off the get-go."

- Los Angeles' Colin Fraser. The Kings have lost two in a row and are now tied 2-2 in their series against the San Jose Sharks.
