When Ben Scrivens finished his senior year at Cornell University his playing career was in limbo. But that all changed when the Alberta native signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs in April.

This fall, Scrivens is trying to make a lasting impression at Leafs training camp, despite the backlog of goaltenders already in the Toronto system.

The 24-year-old netminder played four seasons with Cornell, twice posting a GAA of 1.87 or lower. He also finished his collegiate career with 19 shutouts, just seven behind Buffalo Sabres netminder Ryan Miller – who played three seasons with Michigan State - and good enough for third all-time in the NCAA.

Sean Leathong takes a closer look at Maple Leafs prospect Ben Scrivens.
