Keep out the crease crashers

After the research and development camp I couldn't help but think of a lost skill in the modern NHL: the crease-clearing goaltender.

Why are players allowed to stand in the crease? More goaltenders need to claim ownership of their space if the league continues to allow the crease to be crashed and crowded.
