Phoenix Coyotes re-sign winger Lee Stempniak to two-year contract

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Veteran forward Lee Stempniak has officially signed a US$3.8 million, two-year contract with the Phoenix Coyotes.

"We are very pleased to have signed Lee to a two-year contract," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said in a release Monday. "He played a key offensive role with our team down the stretch last season."

The 27-year-old set a blistering offence pace after the Coyotes acquired him in a deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had 14 goals and four assists in 18 games with Phoenix.

He collected two assists in seven playoff games.

Stempniak had 14 goals and 16 assists in 62 regular season games before the trade.

"He is just entering the prime of his career," Maloney said in the release. "We look forward to him having continued success with our organization."
