Columbus Blue Jackets re-sign forward Mike Blunden to one-year contract

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets made sure that another young forward will be back in the fold.

The club re-signed Mike Blunden to a one-year contract, general manager Scott Howson confirmed on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old Blunden had two goals and two assists with 59 penalty minutes in 40 games with the Blue Jackets in 2009-10. He scored the first goal of his NHL career against Chicago on March 25. He also had seven goals and nine assists in 25 games with Columbus' American Hockey League affiliate in Syracuse.

Chicago's second pick, 43rd overall, in the 2005 draft, Blunden was acquired by the Blue Jackets from Chicago in exchange for Adam Pineault (pih-NYOH') on Jan. 10, 2009. A native of Toronto, Blunden has played 203 games in the AHL.
