Blackhawks sign defenceman Nick Leddy to three-year contract

CHICAGO - Former University of Minnesota defenceman Nick Leddy signed a three-year contract with the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

Taken with the 16th pick in the 2009 draft by the Minnesota Wild, Leddy was traded to the Blackhawks with defencemen Kim Johnsson for defenceman Cam Barker on Feb. 12.

Leddy had three goals and eight assists as a freshman for the Gophers last season.
