Blackhawks acquire Jeff Taffe for Marty Reasoner in trade with Florida

CHICAGO - The Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks have acquired centre Jeff Taffe from the Florida Panthers in exchange for centre Marty Reasoner.

The 29-year-old Jaffe had a goal and an assist in 21 games with the Panthers last season. He has 21 goals and 23 assists over parts of seven seasons with Phoenix (2002-04, 2005, 2006-07), New York Rangers (2005), Pittsburgh (2007-09) and Florida (2009-10).

Reasoner was slated to earn US$1.2 million in 2010-11, according to the players' union. He leaves without playing a game for Chicago. The Blackhawks acquired the 33-year-old Reasoner in a trade with Atlanta on June 24 for playoff star Dustin Byfuglien, defenceman Brent Sopel and forward Ben Eager.
