Toronto Maple Leafs add depth by signing Zigomanis, Crabb and Richmond

TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs boosted their depth Thursday by signing free-agent forwards Mike Zigomanis and Joey Crabb, and defenceman Danny Richmond.

Zigomanis recorded 13 assists in seven games with the Toronto Marlies last season and also played in 27 contests for Djurgardens of the Swedish Elite League, picking up four goals and seven assists.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 189 career NHL games with Carolina, St. Louis, Phoenix and Pittsburgh, collecting 39 points (21 goals, 18 assists).

Crabb, 27, had 24 goals with 29 assists in 79 games for the Chicago Wolves. In 29 career NHL games with the Atlanta Thrashers, he has four goals and five assists.

Richmond, 25, played in 69 AHL games last season with Peoria and Rockford, scoring one goal with 21 assists and 166 penalty minutes. He's played in 49 career NHL games with the Carolina Hurricanes and Chicago Blackhawks.

"These players add significant depth to our organization," Dave Poulin, vice-president of hockey operations, said in a release. "They all have experience at the NHL level and will provide strong leadership for our young prospects."
