With all due respect to Henrik Sedin, Sidney Crosby deserved to win the Hart Trophy for one reason: goals.
While assists are an important part of hockey, it is the goals that ultimately decide who wins and who loses games.
A goal-scorer is a game-breaker who can singlehandedly decide a game on any given night while a playmaker needs a good team around him to accomplish the same feat.
It's time to face the fact that goals are worth more than assists.
This also further fortifies the need for the NHL to implement an assists award to differentiate between who wins the games and who merely sets them up.
