My son, Sgt. Joshua Hayes, a U.S. Marine stationed at MCAS Miramar in San Diego, wrote this at a bar after watching Game 6 of the final and posted it on Facebook.

He raises the Cup above his head, kissing it, in the blank area where his name will soon be immortalized. Its the grail, of which they do not speak or touch til they can claim it as theirs. Holding the souls and history of the blood, heartache and triumph of legends. Playing since they could stand. From that day until they raise the Cup, it's the passion, the devotion, the love of a game; the greatest game there is.
