For most young players, being sent to the American League after a full NHL season is not a good sign. But that's not the case for the Stars' Jamie Benn. The rookie forward played all 82 games with Dallas this year, but when the season ended he joined the Texas Stars for the Calder Cup drive.

Benn is by no means a stranger to big games. In 2009 he was major part of Canada’s gold medal-winning team at the World Junior Championship in Ottawa. He had four goals and six points in six games at the tournament.

Later that year he helped the Kelowna Rockets capture the Western League championship. And even though Kelowna fell short in the Memorial Cup, Benn gained valuable experience in a pressure-packed environment. So it should come as no surprise that Benn has helped lead Texas to the AHL final against Hershey this spring.

Ryan Dixon caught up with Dallas’ future star to see how he was enjoying his Calder Cup experience.
