Slashing Hawks need to be stopped

Josh Statham, Powell River, B.C.

If the NHL can create a rule on the spot for Sean Avery and his crease antics, then they can do it for the Chicago Blackhawks, too.

After watching my Canucks bow out in six games in the second round to the Hawks for a second consecutive year, I am feeling pretty choked – and not at (just) Dustin Byfuglien, but Adam Burish and the rest of the pitch-forking Blackhawks.

The San Jose Sharks were penalized (and gave up a power play goal) after they fought back when three Hawks slashed their goalie after the whistle. This does not make sense.

If you slash the goalie after the whistle it should be an automatic two minutes.
