If the NHL wants to honor the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Bobby Orr and Patrick Roy by naming trophies after them, why not create trophies that recognize post-season accomplishments?
Currently the Conn Smythe is the only individual trophy awarded for playoff performance. How about adding the Gretzky Trophy for the best playoff forward, the Orr Trophy for the best playoff defenseman, and the Roy Trophy for the best playoff goaltender?
If the playoffs are when the results really matter, then there should be more awards based on playoff performance, anyway.
