For the 13th-straight season, the New Jersey Devils are in the post-season with dreams of a Stanley Cup in their minds.

And while playoff success has been fleeting lately, New Jersey has always been in the mix thanks to an organization long on structure and hockey IQ.

The fact so many members of the Devils are American-born and/or NCAA alumni makes the franchise unique in the NHL, but it's a system that has worked for the Devils who have won three Stanley Cups in 15 years.

Team stalwarts such as Zach Parise, Paul Martin, Travis Zajac and Jay Pandolfo all played NCAA hockey and were thankful for the experience.

Ryan Kennedy talks to a couple of New Jersey's former college boys to get the inside scoop on why they went the developmental route they did.
