Worcester Sharks blue-liner Danny Groulx named AHL's outstanding defenceman

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Worcester Sharks blue-liner Danny Groulx won the Eddie Shore Award on Tuesday as the American Hockey League's outstanding defenceman.

The eighth-year pro from LaSalle, Que., has recorded 62 points (11 goals, 51 assists) in 76 games this season.

Groulx, who has a plus-17 rating, leads all AHL defencemen in assists, points and shots on goal (247).

He also played in the 2010 AHL all-star game last January and was named a first-team all-star last week.
